CUREOSITY is revolutionizing rehabilitation through the innovative use of immersive technology. Their mission is to enhance the patient and provider experience by integrating virtual reality into therapeutic practices. They offer a versatile tool for clinicians and patients to improve recovery outcomes in various medical conditions.
CUREOSITY’s first product release was in 2021, and from then on, they knew that using VR at scale would require an MDM, “Pretty much from the get-go, we needed an MDM,” says Luc.
Partnering with someone who truly understands the Quest software was essential to providing excellent service for their fleet of Meta Quest devices. As a medical company, security and reliability are paramount. The search for an MDM began and, after rigorous testing of different suppliers, ManageXR was the clear solution.
“ManageXR was and still is the best provider for our purpose,” says Luc. Four years later, ManageXR continues to enable CUREOSITY’s revolutionary VR platform with their flagship products, CUREO® and CUREO® Group, a turnkey hardware + software solution.
The CUREO® product line
CUREO® is designed for physical, cognitive, and neurological rehabilitation. Therapy becomes more effective and enjoyable by gamifying rehabilitation exercises and immersing patients in engaging, interactive environments.
CUREO® is available for use in 1:1 scenarios or a group, where one provider (e.g. The therapist or doctor) can facilitate therapy sessions for up to 6 patients. Providers use a tablet to control the patient’s experience with the therapeutic content. Tablets give therapists a comprehensive overview of what the patient is doing allow for on-the-fly changes.
For providers, CUREOSITY strives to make therapy more straightforward and more efficient. “We live in a world where, unfortunately, there’s just not enough therapists for the number of patients there are, and therefore efficiency is super important,” Luc describes. CUREOSITY needed end-to-end control over their devices, which ManageXR helped achieve.

How device management transforms the virtual reality experience
“Our core [need] was a smooth, non-interruptible experience for our patient, meaning that they can’t access any settings and shouldn’t open any menus that we don’t want them to open,” Luc says.
Without an MDM, Luc imagines there would be more troubleshooting with customer support. “[Without ManageXR], we would have to provide another manual [to start the software] for our customers, and ultimately, it would have just reduced the amount of therapy we could have supported”, he says.
Locking devices into a single app with kiosk mode reduces the learning curve and lowers the barrier to entry for using CUREO®’s modules. Instead of figuring out how to work unfamiliar controllers and confusing menus, patients simply put on the headset and immediately enter the immersive experience. Sessions run smoothly and focus on the patients and therapy – not the technology. Using kiosk mode ensures the experience remains fun, interactive, and engaging, not frustrating.
Efficient sessions with end-to-end control over devices
Kiosk mode ensures efficient use of time for patients and providers. Being locked into a single app means less time spent troubleshooting or fiddling with confusing menus. “Every minute counts in this therapy unit. Every minute that we need, setting up our stuff or even selecting an application, is going to take away from the therapy time in the end,” Luc says.
Even for the most tech-savvy person, unexpected delays could hit any time. “The worst case would be that you start the device you want to have, you have the patient sitting there waiting to get therapy, and then the device starts and needs an update…in the worst case, it takes a couple minutes or even an hour, and then that whole therapy session is lost”, Luc describes.
With ManageXR, devices can be configured to pause or delay firmware updates, ensuring that therapy sessions are uninterrupted and software remains compatible with new firmware.
Scaling revolutionary therapy for Europe and beyond
ManageXR not only creates more efficient use of time during therapy but also streamlines the device provisioning process. The team at CUREOSITY uses ManageXR to preload the CUREO® software and desired device settings onto new headsets. Multiple versions of the CUREO® app can be managed using ManageXR with no restrictions. “That’s also what I appreciate…it’s easy to publish new apps without limitations on how big the app is or stuff like that,” Luc says.
When issues arise, ManageXR’s top-notch customer support is collaborative and attentive. “We’re always happy with the level of customer support that you guys are able to provide us and very appreciative of how we can collaborate,” Luc says. “Having this access to some of the devs to talk directly to them is really amazing and just results in a quick fix in the end, which is really, really great.”
With ManageXR, CUREOSITY is excited to scale and bring this revolutionary therapy to more corners of the world.
